Human Equivalent

Brought together by rising Scottish jazz star Leah Gough-Cooper, alto sax player and composer, the band also features Ant Law, Kevin Glasgow, Calum McIntyre, and, as of summer 2008, Alan Benzie.
Billed as the Leah Gough-Cooper Quartet, they have played the Jazz Centre at the Lot, Edinburgh; the Jazz Bar, Edinburgh; and the Islay Jazz Festival.

Human Equivalent’s debut CD ‘PSYCLONE’ is now available on Frank the Rabbit Records

Their first Psyclone was sighted in June - they are now raising it as family and hope it will grow up nice and big and strong….

Review of Islay Jazz Festival gig: “….up’n'coming Dumfriesshire-born saxophonist Leah Gough-Cooper, currently studying at the prestigious Berklee College in Boston, enhanced her burgeoning reputation with Saturday’s arrestingly assured and sophisticated set in Port Ellen, her authoritative atmospheric playing and inventive original compositions complimented by excellent work from her three-piece band, in particular some sparkling interplay between guitar and electric bass.” THE SCOTSMAN 18-Sep-07.
